Making Organic Energy

Today, there are an estimated 50 farm-scale anaerobic digestion projects in operation on swine, and poultry farms across the country. The key by-products of anaerobic digestion include digested solids (useful as a soil amendment) and methane, the primary component of “bio-gas,” which can be used to fuel a variety of cooking, heating, cooling, and lighting applications, as well as to generate electricity.

Turning organic waste into energy is an option that becomes increasingly important as issues surrounding the disposal, odor, and usage of bi-products become more prevalent.

The reduction of odor and pollution, and the positive use of an otherwise “unpleasant” product into usable energy make organic energy a proven alternative.
