As a turn key engineering contractor firm, Waste Energy Solutions develops anaerobic digestion facilities custom designed for each client.
Most facilities have this basic equipment:
- SCADA process control
- Reception hall equipment
- Sterilization units
- Pre-storage tanks
- Pumps, Mixers, Heat exchangers
- Digester tanks
- Gas holder
- Gas scrubber
- After-storage tanks
- Centrifuge
- Water treatment equipment with Nutrient removal unit
- Engine driven generator with CHP application
While each system is different in size, scope, and capability, the general process is explained below:
Step 1
ORGANIC MATTER is broken down by the action of hydrolytic and fermentative bacteria, at warm temperature, to form fatty acids, CO2, H2, some NH4, and some H2S.
Step 2
SYNTROPHIC BACTERIA convert the fatty acids produced in step 1 again at warm temperature to form acetic acid, CO2, and H2.
Step 3
METHANE forming bacteria produce CH4, CO2, H2 from the acetic acid formed in step 2. BIOGAS is the gaseous mixture collected from the above steps that is composed of CH4, CO2, H2 and NH4, which is easily used for heating or electricity generation. |
